Shauna Reeves, city manager, presented a proposed logo and branding strategy for the Market Pavilion at Gateway and asked the council for direction. Reeves described the design as "simplistic and versatile," intended to be timeless and adaptable for a growers market, seasonal events and cultural markets. Councilors gave their feedback and the council reached consensus to proceed with the branding.
Reeves said the Market Pavilion will be the planned home of the growers market and could host Christmas markets, cultural markets and outdoor equipment swaps. She told the council the design is meant to complement the building architecture and be adaptable to various uses. Reeves also said staff are preparing promotional items for a ribbon cutting expected in late October.
Councilor Chiquino praised the design as "elegant" and "versatile," and Councilor Bingham Kelley and others described the concept as simple and effective. Councilors did not request a formal vote; Reeves said "consensus will be good" and the council confirmed support.
No budgetary appropriation or contract award for branding work was approved during the item; Reeves did not request an ordinance or specific expenditure authorization on the record. Staff indicated they will proceed with preparations for the ribbon-cutting and related promotional materials.
