Council appoints Mark Ellsworth to Cultural Affairs and Arts Advisory Committee

The Maricopa City Council on Sept. 2 appointed Mark Ellsworth to fill a vacancy on the Cultural Affairs and Arts Advisory Committee.
Councilmember Gettle nominated Ellsworth, and the council accepted the nomination by motion and voice vote. Councilmember Gettle moved to approve and Councilmember Manfredi seconded; the chair called for the voice vote and the motion carried.
Gettle introduced Ellsworth and outlined his background: Ellsworth is an award-winning theater director, production manager and writer who has lived in Maricopa for seven years; he holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Arizona State University in theater arts, founded Actors Youth Theater and teaches advanced drama at Heritage Academy in Maricopa. Gettle said Ellsworth has directed more than 65 community, college, high-school and youth theater productions and has received more than a dozen Arizona theater awards.
Ending: Ellsworth was invited to stand and be recognized at the meeting. No further council action on the committee appointment was recorded.
