Goodyear — The City Council on Aug. 25 approved the annexation of approximately 0.978 acres along the east half of South Perryville Road adjacent to La Pobrada Parcel 5 to facilitate half‑street improvements connected to an existing residential subdivision.
Senior planner Kyle Abbott told the council the privately owned parcel appears on county assessor maps as a county‑maintained road segment; the owner requested annexation so the city can require the half‑street improvements as part of subdivision construction. Abbott said the property lies within the city's municipal planning area and meets state statutory annexation requirements and the city's annexation policy criteria, including long‑term desirability and general plan compatibility.
The council held the required public hearing (no speakers) and adopted ordinance number 2025‑1636 to annex the property. A motion and second were recorded on the ordinance and the vote passed 7‑0.
Staff said the annexation will allow the city to ensure infrastructure improvements are constructed to city standards as the La Pobrada subdivision proceeds.
