Red Oak ISD selects Joris General Contractors as CMAR for 2025 bond projects
Summary
Following a posted solicitation and interviews, the district ranked Joris General Contractors highest and authorized the superintendent to negotiate a preconstruction CMAR contract and a guaranteed maximum price (GMP) for the 2025 bond projects, including a CTE building, new elementary, practice gym, sub-varsity venue and Goodloe Stadium work.
District staff reported a competitive selection process for a construction manager at risk (CMAR) to lead multiple 2025 bond projects. The solicitation drew 13 qualified respondents; a committee interviewed five firms on Aug. 12 and ranked Joris General Contractors highest.
The board authorized the superintendent to negotiate and enter into a preconstruction-services contract with Joris General Contractors to establish a guaranteed maximum price. Staff said the CMAR would proceed into general construction only if the GMP fits within the bond-approved budgets. Projects listed in the solicitation include a Career and Technical Education building with cafeteria at Red Oak High School, a new elementary at Harmony Way, practice-gym additions at the high school, a sub-varsity athletic venue and Goodloe Stadium renovations.
Trustees voted to authorize negotiation and contract execution; the motion passed 7-0. Staff said they will attempt to negotiate the GMP and return with final contract terms if the price fits the established budgets.
