Board approves amended FY25-26 budget and assigns fund balance for potential residential special-education placements
Summary

Dr. Johnston said the amended general fund adds approximately $3.4 million, primarily for district salary increases authorized since the June adoption and to cover costs tied to the opening of Joy Shaw Middle School and related UIL and event expenses. He also explained the district issued 2025 series bonds and updated debt-service fund information.
Separately, the board approved assignment of fund balance: the district historically reserves $180,000 as a contingency for IDEA-B cases requiring residential placements; trustees approved transferring funds from unassigned to assigned fund balance for that purpose.
Both the amended budget and the fund-balance assignment passed on recorded motions with unanimous votes (amended budget 7-0; fund-balance transfer 7-0).
