Midway ISD board votes unanimously to call $83.5 million bond election for Nov. 4, 2025

The Midway ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously to call a $83,500,000 bond election for Nov. 4, 2025, the board decided after more than an hour of discussion about enrollment trends and whether to rebuild or close Spiegelville Elementary.

District staff presented a recommendation that had originally been sized near $175 million but was pared down amid concern about enrollment at the elementary level and changes in local taxable values. "The board has the discretion to accept, reject, or modify a recommendation," said Dr. Allen, a district staff member leading the presentation, and added that the deadline to call a November election required action that day: "So today's the day."

The bond package approved for the ballot would fund deferred maintenance and facility upgrades, buses, technology, athletic and fine-arts projects and high-school improvements including a PE gym. Administration described roughly $40 million for deferred maintenance, about $6.7 million to replace buses (about 30 vehicles), roughly $9 million for technology, and a $21 million allotment for high-school work…
