Brent Stanford, a district construction presenter, told the Red Oak Independent School District Board of Trustees the new high school is nearing completion and showed board members photos and a campus map to orient them to academic, athletic and support wings. "As of August 22, overall completion's 83%," Stanford said, describing finished tiling, painting and millwork in the academic wings and near-complete fine arts and cafeteria areas.
Stanford said cores D, E and F were finishing punch-list items while G required more work. He reported gym floors are down in both gyms and bleachers are being installed, the practice gym/tornado-shelter stands are going up and exterior brick and stone veneers and most windows are installed. Athletic field, track and tennis courts are complete and site paving and fencing are underway.
Board members asked about courtyard finishes and landscape surfacing. Stanford said landscaping and irrigation were in progress and that areas around plantings would use crushed granite rather than mulch. He also noted some interior hallway flooring on the athletic side had not yet been started.
The presentation included interior photos of typical classrooms, corridors, the cafeteria, band hall carpet left to finish and nurse/student support areas. No formal action was taken; the board moved on after questions and thanks to Stanford.
The update was presented during the superintendent's report and included progress details, remaining punch-list items and expected next steps for site work and interior finishes.
