Mesquite ISD names new safety director, administrative services executive and several principals and directors

Superintendent Dr. Rivera thanked the community for bond support and said the hires will help the district prepare to implement bond-funded projects. Several appointees addressed the board; Jeff Moore said he and his team were planning summer work to prepare for the 2025—26 school year and said, "May none of us ever forget what the priority is and what's at stake. Our future generations deserve and need a safe and secure learning environment." Dr. Rivera also noted community confidence in the bond, saying, "63% is nothing to sneeze at." The board voted to approve the administrative contract term contracts in a single motion; Mr. Bingham moved, Miss Hornsby seconded, and the motion passed 7—0. In a separate vote the board approved the employment contracts and acted on a proposed nonrenewal of a term contract for Anthony Wells; that motion passed 7—0.
Ending: The newly approved administrators will take on roles as specified by Human Resources and the superintendent—s office; the board did not discuss individual contract terms or salaries during the open meeting.
