La Jolla ISD staff reported to the board on Aug. 27 that the Lone Star Governance Time Use Tracker shows the board spent 87.18% of meeting minutes focused on student outcomes at the same meeting.
"We had a hundred and 2 minutes laser focused on student outcomes," Joseph said while presenting the tracker. The report compared time spent on student outcomes against a board target of at least 50% of meeting time devoted to student outcomes.
Why it matters: Lone Star governance practices aim to keep board meetings focused on student achievement and policy rather than operational minutiae. The district presented the tracker as evidence it is aligning meeting time with that standard.
District staff said the Aug. 27 meeting included a dense set of student‑outcomes presentations, including accountability results and the annual school‑planning presentation. Board members thanked staff for monitoring meeting focus and said they appreciated the accountability to the Lone Star standard.
The tracker will be used going forward as the board and administration monitor how agenda time is allocated to agenda items and student outcomes.
