Keller Independent School District trustees approved the consent agenda unanimously (7‑0), with administrators highlighting several items of note: the quarterly investment report, a large food‑service contract amount for Sodexo, grant‑funded installation of roof hatches for campus security, and the renewal of an innovative Career and Technical Education (CTE) course in forensic psychology.
Administration clarified that nutrition services expenditures shown in the consent packet are paid from the Nutrition Services fund balance — a restricted fund separate from the general fund — and not from the general fund balance. Staff said the district is required to maintain no more than six months of operating expenses in that fund and periodically uses those funds to update equipment.
The quarterly investment report showed maturing certificates of deposit and reinvestment choices; finance staff noted TEA excludes CDs from cash‑on‑hand calculations, which can make cash metrics appear lower even though funds remain invested.
The CTE innovative course in forensic psychology — originally developed about a decade ago with state TEKS and resources — was presented for renewal. Administration said roughly 10,000 students statewide have taken the course since creation, with about 8,000 of those in the last three years; Keller ISD recommended renewal to continue offering it locally and make the TEKS available to other districts.
Trustees approved the consent agenda without pulling items for separate action.
