Board approves Tarrant County 4‑H staff as adjunct faculty and recognizes 4‑H as extracurricular activity

Trustees approved two related action items that recognize Tarrant County 4‑H programming as an approved extracurricular activity and designate county 4‑H staff as adjunct district faculty.
The adjunct‑faculty designation allows Tarrant County 4‑H staff to verify attendance for Keller ISD students while they participate in approved 4‑H events; the extracurricular recognition enables students to receive excused absences for those activities. Administration said Keller ISD students participate in 4‑H events that include competitions, speaking events, leadership development and livestock shows.
Why it matters: The approvals formalize an existing relationship and ensure Keller ISD students participating in approved 4‑H events are treated like other extracurricular participants for attendance and school credit purposes.
Both items passed unanimously (7‑0). Administration said it will communicate the changes to campus attendance offices to make sure procedures for excused absences and attendance verification are correctly followed.
