Keller Independent School District trustees approved a slate of board advisory committees intended to expand community engagement on policy, budget and long‑range planning.
The administration recommended a set of advisory committees under board policy BDF(local), and trustees approved committees for the 2025–26 year including: Budget; Long‑Range Planning; Citizens Bond Advisory; Safety and Security; Policy Review; District Innovation; District Education Improvement; District Health Advisory Council; and a Districtwide Citizens Advisory. The administration said committee membership will be appointed via an online application, will aim to include representatives from each feeder pattern and staff levels, and terms will be two years maximum.
Why it matters: The committees are intended to provide fact‑finding and community advice on key policy areas the board must consider in coming months, including bond planning and long‑range enrollment and program decisions. The administration said the separation of advisory committees from board subcommittees follows recent TASB model‑policy updates and clarifies roles between trustee‑only committees and broader stakeholder advisory groups.
Administration will open applications immediately if the board approves; the district plans a two‑week application window with appointments posted online and the first meetings expected in September. Trustees asked about nomination parity and bylaws; administration said each trustee may nominate the same number of committee representatives and recommended bylaws will be provided for committee adoption.
The board unanimously approved the advisory committee plan.
