The Godly Independent School District Board of Trustees unanimously approved three additional full‑time equivalent (FTE) positions for the 2025–26 school year after administrators said some grade levels are at or near capacity and specific program needs were identified.
District staff asked the board to approve three FTEs described as an "ESL pair at Legacy," a "special education pair at Pleasant View" and an additional FTE to be held in reserve for growth. The presenter said the district had already used one previously approved FTE in April to add a teacher in third grade and avoid student reassignment.
"We had our third grade completely full. Every seat in third grade was filled, by the first Friday, so we were able to use that FTE to quickly add a teacher and to minimize disruption to students," the presenter said. The presenter recommended approval to avoid classroom overcrowding in first and second grades and other grade levels that are near capacity.
The motion to approve the three FTEs was made by Christa and seconded by Terry. "All those in favor? Motion passes unanimously," the presiding officer said.
The action authorizes hiring and staffing adjustments consistent with district personnel policies; the board did not discuss specific hires or names at the meeting. Trustees and staff said the additions are intended to reduce class size pressure and support English Learners and special education needs across campuses.
Next steps: District administration will implement hiring and assignment procedures for the approved FTEs and report back to the board regarding placements and any further staffing requests.
