Aaron Fliss, director of information technology for Ellington Public Schools, told the board on Aug. 27 that he plans to resign effective in October. Fliss said he has worked in the district for seven years and described accomplishments during his tenure, including implementing a shared-services initiative, rolling out several software platforms and strengthening the district technology team. “I've implemented the shared services initiative. We've rolled out a number of new software platforms, and we've galvanized an already really strong technology team in the district,” Fliss said. He thanked the board and central-office staff and said he was “excited for my next adventure.” The board offered congratulations and thanks. No formal action was recorded that night related to his resignation; the superintendent and HR staff will follow normal personnel procedures for transition and recruitment.
