Board approves reclassification of traffic monitors and creates safety and security specialist role

Board members approved a memorandum of understanding to absorb traffic monitors into a campus security classification and approved a new full‑time safety and security specialist position that will oversee fire drills, campus safety procedures and supervision of campus security across three campuses.

According to the staff presentation, the PAC MOU will reclassify traffic monitors into a single campus security classification to serve both employees and the academy. "This is an agreement that we've come to with our classified union that serves both the employees and the academy where we are taking our traffic monitors and absorbing them into the campus super campus security classification," a staff member said during the meeting.

Separately, board members approved a job description for a safety and security specialist that the district said was included in the adopted budget. The staff presentation said the role consolidates safety oversight—fire drills, safety monitoring and supervision of campus security—across the district’s three campuses. The board voted to approve both items; the motions passed with a voice vote of "aye." No roll‑call vote tally by name was recorded in the transcript.
