Superintendent Dr. Layton recommended approval of both purchases and the board voted to authorize the expenditures. Eager explained the purchases respond to identified gaps in consistent, evidence‑based curricular resources for English language development and secondary reading intervention; the materials will be deployed across district schools. The grants were awarded in July with a short procurement turnaround; staff said they will report back at the end of the school year on implementation and outcomes. Board members asked for routine follow‑up reporting to show how funds were used and what student outcomes emerge; one board member requested that finance include the grant fund name alongside dollar figures in future materials so the board can match purchases to fund codes. What’s next: Directors will place orders, distribute materials to schools and provide progress reports on implementation and outcomes to the board, including an end‑of‑year summary tied to grant objectives.
