The Warren Township High School District 121 Board of Education approved a package of routine and project items Tuesday, including personnel actions, an amended facility-use fee schedule, additional positions for multilingual and family supports, construction drawings for locker rooms, a school softball trip and a $4 million transfer for capital projects.
The consent agenda passed on a roll-call vote and included personnel recommendations (Exhibit A numbers 61–70), athletics/activities and volunteer personnel recommendations (Exhibit B numbers B‑19 and B‑20), payment of bills dated Feb. 18, 2025 in the amount of $7,600,188.81, regular and executive-session minutes of Jan. 21, 2025, second-reading approval of district board policies, an amended 2024–25 board meeting schedule and approval of the 2025–26 reading list.
The board approved a revised facility-use fee schedule that reclassifies some external organizations (nonprofit, charitable, religious and civic groups) from class 2 to class 3 so that groups will bear incremental costs such as custodial overtime or extra security rather than the district absorbing those charges. The motion was described by staff as a cost-recovery approach.
The board approved three additional positions for fiscal year 2026: a bilingual teacher secretary at Almond campus, an administrative assistant to support the multilingual department, and a parent and family liaison (described by staff as an ombudsman-style role initially focused at the Eau Plaine campus). The board discussed timing and recommended beginning hiring as soon as a suitable candidate can be found.
Other approvals included:
• A softball team trip to Kentucky and Ohio in March 2025 (approved unanimously).
• Revised drawings by DLA Architects Limited for O'Plaine campus locker rooms and athletic training room; the board approved the drawings to allow continued design work for boys' and girls' swim locker rooms proximate to the pool.
• A resolution authorizing a permanent interfund transfer of $4,000,000 for capital projects, with more than half of the funds earmarked for roof work and other upcoming projects.
• A disciplinary recommendation approving the disciplinary action for student 25‑10 through Jan. 1, 2027; the board voted in favor of the recommendation on roll call.
All motions were approved by roll-call votes. Where votes were recorded, six members voted yes and motions carried as reflected in the meeting roll call.
