The Woodland District 50 Board of Education approved several personnel- and contract-related items Aug. 28, including the addition of a Blue Advantage HMO to the collective bargaining agreement and new coaching and fine-arts language in that agreement.
The board voted unanimously, 7–0, to add the Blue Advantage HMO to the employee collective bargaining agreement for fiscal year 2026 through a memorandum of understanding. The board also approved the addition of coaching and fine-arts statements to the collective bargaining agreement by the same 7–0 margin.
The board then considered the human resources report, which board members had asked to review in a revised spreadsheet format. After discussion about linking hire sheets and the level of detail on applicants’ education and hiring justifications, the board approved the human resources report in a roll-call vote that resulted in six yes votes and one abstention (Carla). The board also approved a revised consent agenda — which included minutes, policy revisions and monthly financials — by a 7–0 vote after an earlier procedural revision moved some items from consent to action.
Why it matters: The benefit and contract changes affect the district’s collective bargaining implementation and employee benefits for FY26. Board members emphasized transparency in personnel reporting and reaffirmed that they could request additional hire documentation if questions arise.
The motions were recorded on the roll call. The board did not authorize any new, districtwide benefits beyond what is reflected in the memorandum of understanding; the recorded votes show full board support for the items as presented.
