Park Ridge CCSD 64 board outlines committee structure, previews new policy-management tool

The Park Ridge Niles Community Consolidated School District 64 board reviewed the structure of three standing committees — facilities and finance, education, and policy — and previewed a new online policy-management tool intended to track policy updates and preserve historical versions.

Administrators described the facilities and finance committee as having heavy work early in the year because of budgeting and levy timing; the education committee will focus on curriculum, assessment, instruction and student services; and the policy committee will handle periodic policy updates and student behavior/discipline reviews. The board said committee meetings are open and that members not assigned to a committee may still attend.

The district said it will implement a new policy tool (referred to in the meeting as Press Plus) that will display current policy language, changes over time and IASB-released updates. The board noted IASB (the Illinois Association of School Boards) typically issues policy releases about four times a year; the district's legal team will vet any changes recommended for local adoption. The board suggested roughly three policy meetings per year to handle updates and noted a year-end policy meeting will focus on student behavior and discipline data with invited parents.
