The East Dundee Village Board approved several formal items on Aug. 4, including an entertainment special-use permit, a liquor license authorization, acceptance of the annual audit and a negotiated police contract.
The board voted to approve an ordinance granting a special-use permit for a restaurant with live entertainment (acoustic music, closing no later than 9 p.m. per packet) for the property at 311 A Barrington Avenue after a motion and second; the roll-call vote recorded all trustees present voting yes. "Acoustic guitar type," the applicant said of the planned entertainment.
The board also voted to authorize a Class E-1 liquor license for Tapria by Polaria L Teo Ramos Inc. and to amend the municipal code to increase the number of Class E-1 licenses; the motion passed on a recorded roll call with all trustees present voting yes. Representatives from the applicant described their family-run operations and said they have experience managing similar establishments in West Dundee and Palatine.
The village accepted and placed on file the annual comprehensive financial report for the year ended Dec. 31, 2024; auditors from Lauterbach and Amen delivered an unmodified (clean) opinion and noted a management letter item regarding several TIF and capital funds being over budget. The auditor also highlighted the village’s certificate of achievement for excellence in financial reporting for the relevant period.
After a closed session to discuss personnel/collective bargaining, the board returned to open session and unanimously approved a resolution authorizing execution of a negotiated agreement between the Metropolitan Alliance of Police (MAP) Local 453 and the Village of East Dundee.
Why it matters: The special-use and liquor-license approvals enable specific new or remodeled downtown hospitality uses, and the audit acceptance documents the village’s financial position for 2024; the police contract ratification resolves a collective-bargaining negotiation with direct budget and labor implications.
Details on votes and motions: The meeting record shows roll-call votes of trustees present for each approved item; Trustee Saviano was absent throughout the meeting. No dissenting votes were recorded on the items described above.
Ending: The actions concluded multiple business, licensing and labor items raised on the agenda; staff will implement licensing and contract changes per adopted ordinances and the police contract resolution.
