The McLennan County Rural Transit District board of directors elected Trevor Bayes to the Place 6 seat and accepted the City of McGregor's appointment of Sherry Adams to Place 8 at a board meeting on Thursday, Aug. 7, 2025, in Waco.

The action followed a nomination process that left Place 6 tied. Balloting returned 20 votes each for Rick Wegworth (Hallsburg) and Trevor Bayes (Mart). Board bylaws specify that the presiding officer may break a tie; during discussion the presiding officer stated he would cast a tie-breaking vote for Rick Wegworth. The board then moved to nominate and elect Trevor Bayes to Place 6 by motion, which was seconded and approved by voice vote.

The board also accepted the City of McGregor's appointment of Sherry Adams to fill the remainder of the late Steve Duchemin's term through May 2026. A motion to accept McGregor's appointment was made, seconded and approved by voice vote.

After the approvals the presiding officer administered the oath of office to the newly seated members. During the oath the presiding officer asked the appointees to repeat: “I solemnly swear and affirm that I will faithfully execute the duties of the office of board member of the Rural Transit District of McLennan County, Texas, and will to the best of my ability preserve, protect and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States and the State of Texas.”

The board also approved the minutes of its May 1, 2025 meeting during the same session. Board members set a tentative additional meeting for late October (board discussion referenced Oct. 23 as a possible date) to complete the four required quarterly meetings for the year.

Discussion and the formal votes were recorded by voice; the meeting transcript records no roll-call tally for the motions. The transcript shows both the tie reported in the nomination returns and the subsequent nomination and voice vote electing Bayes; it does not reconcile the presiding officer's stated tie-breaking preference with the final motion elected by the board.
