The Grayslake District 46 administration told the board on Sept. 3 that the district has issued a request for qualifications (RFQ) to select a construction management firm to oversee planned facility projects, including upgraded libraries scheduled for construction next summer. Administration said the selection will follow Illinois law requiring procurement of professional services based on qualifications rather than low bid.
According to the presentation, the RFQ was released publicly on Sept. 2 and submissions are due by 5 p.m. on Sept. 19. An administrative selection committee will review submissions, interview finalists and recommend the most qualified firm to the board. Once selected, the construction manager will handle day‑to‑day planning and construction; the board will retain oversight for budgets, project updates and any major scope changes.
Superintendent Dr. Glickman introduced the topic and said the district expects Wold Architects to present preliminary designs at the October board meeting. Leslie Armstrong, the district communications lead, outlined a communications plan that includes updates to a district web page (“maintaining excellence moving forward”), the district newsletter, social media and press outreach to ensure transparency during the planning and bidding phases.
No contract award was voted on at the Sept. 3 meeting; the administration will return with a recommendation after the selection committee completes interviews and evaluation.
