Benson School drop-off completed; Orchard and other water-main projects to start; Itasca Station foundations progress

Village public works staff told the board on Aug. 19 that several local construction projects are advancing: the Benson School drop-off lane and restoration are complete in time for the school year, the Ardmore and Baker water main contractor completed service transfers to a new main and will abandon the old main before pavement restoration, and the Orchard Street water main adjacent to the Holiday Properties development is scheduled to start next month.
Public works said the Benson drop-off lane striping and restoration are finished and only minor punch-list items remain. The Ardmore and Baker project has completed service transfers and will follow with pavement patching. Orchard Street work has a preconstruction meeting scheduled for next Thursday.
Staff also reported that Itasca Station contractors have completed ComEd coordination work and are installing foundations; the village has requested an updated project timeline and expects additional updates at an upcoming meeting.
No votes were required; staff asked the board to note the status updates and will return with timelines and punch-list resolutions as projects progress.
