A supervisor who had attended planning meetings recommended approval, saying the event was well attended and helps community organizations and public leaders work together. County staff reported other confirmed funders: Chevron ($3,000), Mary Greeley Medical Center ($2,000) and McFarland ($2,000); the city of Ames had been asked for $5,000 as well.
A supervisor moved and the board approved the $5,000 sponsorship by roll-call vote.
Board members said the event promotes community ties and decision-making practices among public and nonprofit leaders.
