Farmington recognized Firefighter Caitlin Scholl at its Aug. 18 council meeting for her service with the Minnesota Army National Guard, including a deployment to Al Asad Air Base in Iraq. Chief Price introduced Scholl and described her military and department service.
Chief Price said Scholl enlisted in the Minnesota Army National Guard in August 2020, completed basic training and Advanced Individual Training in 2021 as a 68W combat medic, and joined the Farmington Fire Department in July 2022. He said she deployed in August 2024 in support of Operation Inherent Resolve and that her unit flew an accompanying flag in honor of the Farmington Fire Department on April 7, which the chief tied to a historic local date: the reestablishment of the Eagle Hook and Ladder Company on April 7, 1885.
Chief Price read the language from the certificate accompanying the flag and asked the council to join the department in recognizing Scholl’s service to community, state and nation. Scholl spoke briefly, thanking the department and the community for support during her deployment and saying she was glad to be back on duty.
Council members offered congratulations and thanks. Acting Mayor Bernanke and several council members praised Scholl’s service; Council member Jake thanked her for making Farmington, the state and the nation proud. Chief Price said the flag and certificate would be displayed in a case at the department.
The recognition was ceremonial; no council action was required.
