Itasca Fest drew praise for organization and drone show; preliminary revenues slightly down, mayor says

The mayor and staff recapped Itasca Fest during the July 16 board meeting, calling the event a success despite weather-related cancellations and lower-than-expected preliminary revenues.
"I wanna thank staff and the the board for success as successful of an itasca fest as you can have when 2 days get get canceled early, but it was it was a success," the mayor said, adding that the drone show "was nice." The mayor said he spoke with Chris Kunze about preliminary numbers and that "they're not great, but they're they could have been a lot worse," and that Kunze would present a full report in a couple of weeks.
Staff and department heads praised event planning and public-safety coordination. Police and other staff were credited with managing weather-related decisions and crowd safety; Sergeant Duda and Public Works' Brian Yarbrough were singled out for their roles in managing the event during storms and keeping the site functioning. A staff member also noted visible police presence and compliance with property rules related to bicycles and scooters.
The recap was informational and the village did not take formal budget action during the meeting. A full financial report was scheduled for an upcoming meeting.
