Committee approves preliminary 2026 budget calendar, schedules joint review with village board

The Village of Waunakee Finance Committee on July 21 approved a preliminary calendar for the 2026 budget process that keeps the same structure the village used in recent years. Renee, a village staff member, outlined the timetable: department heads will prepare budgets in July; staff will compile materials through September; the committee and village board will hold a joint review meeting at 6 p.m. on Oct. 20; the committee will host a public engagement meeting the first meeting in November and the formal public hearing and adoption will occur at the boards second November meeting. The committee approved the calendar by motion and asked staff to circulate dates and begin scheduling the Ehlers 10-year forecast presentation to accompany the budget review.
