The Hibbing Public Utilities Commission authorized the utility to advertise a two‑year public bid for dig restorals at its March 20 meeting, moving to secure annual contract services after postponing the procurement last fall because only one bidder responded.
Mr. Peterson told commissioners the commission postponed awards last year because there had been only a single bidder; staff reported roughly 50 dig restorals waiting. "We believe we can get started with some of them right now, but we wanna get going on the annual contract so we can just move forward with some certainty," Peterson said. He asked the commission to authorize advertising for bids and said tabulated bids would return to the commission at a later meeting.
Chair Hart moved and Commissioner Stokes supported a motion to authorize a two‑year bid solicitation for dig restorals; the motion passed on a voice vote.
