Brandon, the project lead for the Capitol extension gallery and custodial break-room buildout, told the subcommittee on Aug. 28 that they have 100% documents for the gallery work but are waiting for a cost estimate before proceeding to procurement.
Gallery scope items listed in the meeting included removal of the chair rail with patch-and-paint, installation of track lighting, and a bid alternate to remove black tiles where statues previously sat (replacement with white tiles and possible pedestal work is a bid alternate). The custodial break rooms were also included in the scope.
On acoustics, staff reported that construction documents and specifications are complete and a contractor is being sought to create a mock-up and perform before-and-after testing. Project staff said the testing, pricing and coordination with major maintenance for HVAC work are outstanding items. Project staff also said that some of the work will rely on major maintenance funds and that the committee will be asked to manage those funds under an MOU; Wendy said staff expect to bring the MOU and final construction documents to the committee at a September meeting.
No formal action was taken. Staff said they will return with a cost estimate and a schedule for contract procurement and mock-up testing.
