Design staff told the Capital Interpretive Exhibits and Refining Subcommittee on Aug. 28 that the Constitution kiosk will be installed before Constitution Day, Sept. 17, and will display high-resolution scans of the document’s pages along with a replica pages case and zoomable handwritten and typed images.
Project staff said the installation will include interactive features: a “historic constitution” section, featured amendments, a read-and-explore function, and a compare-and-contrast module that highlights how Wyoming’s constitution differs from others. Staff said the constitution content has undergone repeated review by the subcommittee and by Wyoming Historical staff; Tom and Kylie from Wyoming Historical were credited in the presentation.
The Capital Kiosk will provide easy access to articles and related sections, a legislator search (for current and former members) and office contact information. Project staff said five elected-official biographies have been reviewed and approved by the offices they describe; legislator bios will be fed from the state system and not modified by the exhibit team.
Designers also previewed a children’s interactive called the Kids’ Capital Quest — a floor-by-floor, search-and-find activity intended to keep younger visitors engaged. Staff noted a future collateral package (referred to as “package 5”) could include a printed children’s activity book tied to the kiosk content so families can take a physical activity home.
No formal vote was taken. Staff said the constitution kiosk will be installed “early September” and will be ready for Constitution Day on Sept. 17; the Capital Kiosk will proceed to a 90% review with a filed-stage review slated for mid-September.
