Board tells for-profit vendor it cannot hold one-day alcohol permit for county car show

They told the board their handcrafted beverage trailer serves refreshments and sometimes alcoholic beverages. "It's a handcrafted beverage trailer called Amped Up Sips and Sweets," Megan Carpenter said, explaining she saw a vendor solicitation from Carroll County Recreation and Parks and applied to be an alcohol vendor.
Board members examined the organization's status and the application form and concluded the county rules do not permit a for-profit corporation to be the named licensee for a one-day/per-diem license. The commissioners said such temporary licenses must be issued to a nonprofit organization or the event owner/operator. "Our rules do not permit a one day license for a corporation," a board member told the applicants.
The Carpenters were advised to coordinate with Carroll County Recreation and Parks, or have a qualifying nonprofit serve as the licensee for the alcohol permit. The board did not grant the permit at the hearing and encouraged the applicants to follow up with the county recreation staff ahead of the event; staff said there will be another hearing date before July 12.
