Staunton — The Staunton City Council adopted Resolution No. 2025-32 on a 5–0 roll-call vote, permitting the Orange County Sheriff’s Department to raise its annual false-alarm response fee from $141 to $209 and declaring the matter not subject to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).
Staff told the council the increase was requested by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department and reflected a department-determined annual adjustment. "The recommended action this evening is that city council declare this item not subject to CEQA, conduct a public hearing, and adopt Resolution number 2025-32 permitting the Orange County Sheriff’s Department to increase the false alarm fee from $141 to $209," the staff member said.
No speakers from the public addressed the council on the item, and the council closed the public hearing before taking the motion. Mayor Schauffer moved approval; Mayor Pro Tem Torres seconded. Council member Warren, Council member Barrios, Council member Taylor, Mayor Pro Tem Torres and Mayor Schauffer voted aye on the roll call and the resolution passed 5–0.
