Weston plans phased fixes at Yellowbanks disc golf course; hole 2 prioritized for safety

The Parks and Recreation Committee received an update on planned maintenance and safety improvements at the Yellowbanks disc golf course and directed staff to begin phased work, focusing first on the course’s hole No. 2.
Staff said they met with course consultant Pete Hoover and that hole No. 2 presents the most urgent maintenance and safety concerns. Immediate work will include removing and refurbishing baskets in small groups so the course remains playable, replacing or powder-coating basket components, and ordering replacement tee-pad material after a supplier changed its product.
Village staff said some shrub and invasive brush cutting can be done now and that chemical treatment combined with repeated cutting will reduce regrowth over multiple seasons. Larger ground work (leveling and major regrading) will be scheduled in spring when weather allows. Staff are coordinating access with utility owners for areas near a pipeline crossing and plan to swap out baskets in small batches to keep the facility open.
No formal vote was required. Staff said they expect to publish a more detailed spring timeline after confirming supplier quotes and refining a work plan with Pete Hoover and public works.
