Committee members also noted that Marathon County’s planning and recent facility decisions may affect demand and siting for pickleball courts. Staff reported county activity — including conversion of tennis courts to pickleball at another park and a pending decision on the fate of an ice arena — that could change where players travel and where large organized tournaments might be held.
No vote took place; the committee agreed to keep the item on the monthly agenda so staff can report back after the local club provides formal membership feedback and after Marathon County issues decisions on its own park plans.
