Several county administrative items were presented and approved by the Kosciusko County Commissioners.
Marsha requested an additional appropriation from County General to the commissioners’ contractual line item to pay Reedy Financial for assistance with tax increment financing (TIF) analysis for the remainder of the year; commissioners approved the appropriation on a motion by Commissioner Kathy and a second by Commissioner Kim.
Marsha also updated commissioners on facility renovations: the public defender’s office moved in on July 1 but had to reorder damaged doors; painting, flooring and other work is complete and furniture is expected to arrive the week of Aug. 4 if shipments are on time. The clerk’s office renovations are wrapping up; surveyor office renovations were scheduled to begin “this coming Monday, the fourteenth,” followed by assessor office moves on completion. Commissioners and staff discussed scheduling but no changes to project scope were made on the record.
Alyssa, county treasurer, reported $47,944.26 in encumbrances for June and said spring settlement was completed and balanced with the treasurer. Alyssa also said the county completed the exit conference for the 2024 audit with the State Board of Accounts “without any comments or incidents or problems.” Commissioners congratulated staff on the clean audit.
Discussion versus decision: commissioners approved the Reedy Financial appropriation and acknowledged operational updates; no other formal actions were taken on renovation schedules beyond informational updates.
Ending: Commissioners thanked staff for the audit work and facility updates and moved to committee reports.
