Committee reviews cost estimates for disc golf access mats, expects work this fall

The parks committee discussed June 6 a plan to make the village disc golf course accessible across areas where shallow utility pipeline depth limits typical equipment access.
Staff presented preliminary cost estimates for new and used access mats and noted five to six locations where mats and fill would be required because soil depth above a pipeline is shallow (reported depths of 35–39 inches in some areas). The committee asked staff to select a preferred pricing option and to return with a firm cost for finance-board consideration.
Committee members favored moving ahead. Staff said installation timeline will depend on coordination with TC Energy (pipeline owner) for on-site oversight and the availability of street-crew labor; staff estimated installation could be completed in fall after coordination and procurement.
No contract award or borrowing decision was made at the June 6 meeting; staff said they will obtain firm bids and then present the financing request to the board.
