Murrysville council approves appointments, contracts and easements in consent and action agenda

At its April 2 meeting, Murrysville Borough Council approved several consent and action items that concluded a busy agenda. Key votes were recorded as follows:
- Library board appointment: Council appointed Robert Brooks to the Murrysville Library Board of Directors to complete a term expiring Dec. 31, 2027. Brooks briefly addressed council and said he would support library services and programs. Motion passed unanimously.
- Pension actuarial services: Council approved continuation of actuarial services after Moc and Hop was purchased by ACRASure; staff said some service items changed under the new owner and estimated a modest annual cost increase (staff estimated roughly $3,000). Motion passed unanimously.
- FTMSA easement advertisement: Council authorized advertisement for Ordinance 1102-25, an easement for the Haymaker Run/FTMSA project involving a small corner of borough-owned property (staff described it as part of a sequence of earlier recorded easements). Motion passed unanimously.
- Release of escrow for Sloan School road maintenance: Council approved the release of remaining escrow funds tied to Sloan School excess road maintenance required by an escrow agreement with the Franklin Regional School District dated Aug. 5, 2019. The released amount in the motion was recorded as $316,500; staff said the work has been completed and recommended release. Motion passed unanimously.
- Eastern Gas Transmission and Storage Inc. (EGTS) excess maintenance agreement: Council approved EGTS’s request to enter an excess maintenance agreement to allow use of 1.34 miles of Sardis Road, 0.52 miles of Hunter Drive and 0.59 miles of Wallace Road for pipeline replacement (LN25, 20-inch pipeline). Staff said the company anticipates truck traffic of about 35–40 total truck movements for the project and will post a bond of $30,625. Motion passed unanimously.
Council also chose to move the regularly scheduled May meeting date to Wednesday, May 21 to avoid the primary election date and to allow the borough election bureau to use council chambers on May 20. All action items passed without recorded opposition.
