Council authorizes bids for road work, approves surplus equipment sales and fireworks contract

Council authorized advertisement for the 2025 crack seal project (DPW 5‑25), with the road scheduled this year being Old William Penn Highway between Export and Delmont; the CIP lists $30,000 for the project. Councillors also authorized advertisement for the 2025 guide rail replacement project (DPW 6‑25) with Meadowbrook Road identified as the scheduled location; the CIP lists $66,000 for that work.
In other public‑works business staff said overlay work for Upper Sardis and repairs for areas paved last year (including Lions Run) will start at the end of the week, weather permitting, and that Russell Standard will return to perform warranty repairs noted after last year’s overlay.
Council approved awarding bids for the sale of used surplus municipal equipment. Staff reported total sale proceeds of $72,541; a single dump truck sold for $37,100.
Parks and events staff presented a contract with Kellner Fireworks Inc. to provide and shoot fireworks for the Aug. 9, 2025, Concert in the Park event. Staff said the contract price is $12,500 and includes a shooter fee because the municipality’s volunteer shooter (Bill Yant) is no longer available. Council approved the contract.
