Murrysville issues proclamation marking closure of Pen Franklin News and June 30 observance

Cooper, describes multi‑generation family involvement and praises the publication’s role in chronicling Murrysville public life. “The Pen Franklin has chronicled the growth, challenges and milestones of Murrysville, preserving the stories of our people, schools, government and civic life,” the proclamation states.
The proclamation formally recognizes June 30, 2025, as PEN Franklin Newsday in the municipality and thanks current family members named in the proclamation — Georgia Cooper Boring (managing editor), Charlene Cooper Wirt (advertising manager), Wade Boring (production manager), Charles Graham Boring (assistant editor) and David Kenneth Boring (circulation manager) — for their service.
Council took the proclamation as a ceremonial recognition; no formal council action or ordinance was associated with the proclamation. Georgia Cooper Boring and others were thanked during the reading and reception that followed.
