Beer board approves permits for Beijing Hot Pot and Pizza Twist, Pizza Twist approval contingent on occupancy

The City of Franklin Beer Board unanimously approved on-premises beer permits Feb. 11 for Hoi Pot LLC, doing business as Beijing Hot Pot (2000 Mallory Lane, Suite 310), and for Purity First Restaurants LLC, doing business as Pizza Twist (1935 Mallory Lane, Suite 200). Alderman Barnhill, Alderman Caesar and the chair voted yes on both motions.

The board’s staff reported that inspections for Beijing Hot Pot were complete and recommended approval. Ying Huang Chen was listed as the managing agent; Rose (one of the owners and manager) described the concept to the board: “Beijing hot pot will be our fourth. ... The best way to describe it would probably be the melting pot in Downtown Nashville. It's the same thing but Asian style,” she said, describing tabletop hot pots and a selection of broths, meats, vegetables and Chinese specialty items.

For Pizza Twist, staff recommended contingent approval because the application was complete except for a certificate of occupancy. Managing agents and owners Raman Verma and Sachin (Satchin) Garg told the board the restaurant will serve Indian‑influenced pizzas plus traditional items and will continue the previous location’s beer service. Verma summarized the training and ID policy they will use, saying staff will be trained and the restaurant will adopt the prior owner’s existing policy.

Votes at the board roll call were identical for both items: Alderman Barnhill — yes; Alderman Caesar — yes; chair — yes. The board’s formal approval for Pizza Twist was recorded as contingent on the city’s issuance of a certificate of occupancy.
