Beer permit for Culinary Dropout approved contingent on certificate of occupancy

The City of Franklin Beer Board on Aug. 12 approved an on-premises beer permit for CDO McEwen LLC, doing business as Culinary Dropout, contingent on the business receiving a certificate of occupancy. Staff told the board that the application and inspections were complete but the certificate of occupancy remained pending; the board approved the permit conditioned on issuance of that certificate. Emily Coble, identified as general manager, said Culinary Dropout is part of a growing restaurant group and described company training and certification practices: staff must obtain an ABC server card within two weeks of employment and undergo beverage training, and employees lose schedule access if their server license expires. Alderman Barnhill, Alderman Caesar and the chair voted yes on the contingent approval by roll call. The board recorded no additional conditions beyond the occupancy contingency.
