Amanda McClee, president of the Leesburg Center for the Arts, told the City Commission during public comment that 15 ArtU students performed a puppet show for parents and that Lakefront TV provided coverage of the program.
Her remarks thanked the commission for its continued support of the arts and said the art center was "completely full with all of our residents and parents of those kids." The news of Lakefront TV coverage, she said, will mean broader local visibility for the center's youth programming.
Another speaker representing West Leesburg CDC invited commissioners to a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a duplex on June 6 at 7 p.m. at 2114 Waitman Avenue, and said the organization had received recognition from the George W. H. Bush Foundation for its community services. The speaker thanked the commission for city funding and said he looked forward to ongoing collaboration.
Both speakers limited remarks to announcements and gratitude; no commission action was taken during the public comment period.
