Public Works said field inspections occurred in January and February for more than 30 properties; an engineer’s draft opinion was received the week of the meeting. Director Santos said he would take about a week to review and expected the final engineering report within roughly a month, and he committed to regular updates if the timeline changes. Several councilmembers urged speed so the town can determine whether enforcement or contract remedies are necessary and assess public safety on affected canal banks.
The council vote directed staff to complete the final report and return to the council with findings and recommendations; no policy change was adopted at the meeting beyond that directive.
