The Village of Royal Palm Beach on Aug. 21 voted unanimously to approve a resolution supporting the renaming of a county road segment — Crestwood Boulevard south of Okeechobee Boulevard to Cocoa Plum Lane — to Virginia C. Baker Boulevard.

Village staff explained the road is under county jurisdiction; the county sought the village's consent and the village followed its established local process, including a Planning & Zoning Board review and required public notices, before placing the resolution on the councilagenda. Council members expressed appreciation for Virginia Baker's service and carried the measure by voice vote without comment.

The resolution was adopted by the council as presented.
