Residents press council over police conduct; speaker urges action on alleged excessive force

Other public commenters supported or amplified the criticism. Some speakers used inflammatory and abusive language toward people they identified as having red hair; those speakers verbally praised use of force in police encounters. The council reminded members of the public about decorum rules; no formal council action or administrative leave was instituted at the meeting. The council chair closed the call to the public and moved on to agenda business.
No council member announced a formal directive or motion to pursue disciplinary action at the Aug. 20 meeting; Sundberg and others said they wanted the town manager and council to take further steps.
