Council to schedule special meeting to brief on RTA 20‑year plan before county supervisors’ vote

Sahuarita staff said Aug. 20 that the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) board has approved a 20‑year plan and the town will schedule a special meeting for a public briefing before the Pima County Board of Supervisors considers placing the measure on the ballot Sept. 2.
Town Manager Beth (last name not specified) said Mike Ortega, executive director of PAG RTA, will present the plan to the council at the special meeting; staff will ask the clerk to arrange the meeting date ahead of Sept. 2 to allow council discussion prior to the county supervisors’ action. Manager Beth said the latest plan contains elements the town supports compared with earlier drafts.
No formal council action was taken at the Aug. 20 meeting other than direction to staff to set the special meeting and invite the RTA executive director for a presentation.
