The Sahuarita Town Council on Aug. 20 adopted Ordinance 2025187 to add municipal solid waste fees: $6.49 per month for additional curbside trash carts and a $50 reinstatement fee for service holds longer than 90 days. The council approved the ordinance by voice vote.
Deputy Public Works Director Daniel Logan told the council the item was limited in scope and had been publicly posted. Logan said the $6.49 monthly fee applies when a household requests an additional cart and that the $50 fee applies when customers request reinstatement of service after a vacation hold exceeding 90 days. Council members asked about shared‑use contracts for adjacent properties; Logan and staff described a shared‑use agreement form that was refined with the town clerk’s office and integrated into Waste Connections’ billing system for enrolled households.
The ordinance formalizes rates and fees that staff said were already being implemented administratively; the council approved the ordinance to add the fee language to the town code.
