KIPP asks board for agreement by Oct. 15 to pursue Prop. 2 funds for aging portables

Amy Parrada, associate director of advocacy for KIPP Northern California, said KIPP San Jose Collegiate currently uses portables that are roughly 27 years old and is eligible to apply for a portion of Prop. 2 funds earmarked for charter schools in district‑owned buildings. Parrada said the funding would allow building repairs without requiring district general fund dollars and asked that the district enter into an agreement with KIPP by Oct. 15 to pursue the application.
Parrada also invited trustees to visit KIPP Navigate at Mount Pleasant ahead of renewal hearings in November and thanked trustees who had already visited.
The request was presented as public comment; trustees and staff did not take formal action at the meeting but did note the timetable and encouraged continued coordination between charter oversight, facilities, and the charter school.
