Board approves BOCES nominations, Monroe 1 election/budget, settlement and consent items

The Brighton Central School District Board of Education approved several items by voice vote on April 8 as part of routine and governance business.
Nominations to Monroe 1 BOCES: The board approved the nomination of three candidates for seats on the Monroe 1 BOCES Board of Education: David Bridal Bunteram (Rush-Henrietta), Kim McCluskey (Pittsburgh) and Rebecca Hicks (East Rochester). The motion to nominate the three candidates was moved and seconded and approved by voice vote.
Monroe 1 BOCES annual election and budget vote: The board voted to move forward with participation in Monroe 1 BOCES' annual election and budget vote for 2025–26; that motion passed by voice vote.
Amended settlement memorandum: The board approved an amended settlement memorandum in a tax-claim matter described on the agenda as between the Country Club of Rochester and the Town of Brighton (tax). The presenter noted the district maintains a reserve to cover tax-claim settlements and that the approval is the result of a long settlement process.
Consent agenda and personnel: The board moved the consent agenda, which included approval of personnel changes, recommendations from the Committee on Special Education (CSE) and the Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE), fundraising activities and field trips. The board also approved the appointment of Amanda Masters as middle school assistant principal. The board observed a moment of silence for Pam Michalski, a food-service employee who passed away.
Gifts: The board accepted a gift from Palmer Food Service consisting of five cases of peanut butter and three cases of jelly for Brighton High School's Brighton Believes service project.
Each of these items was approved by motion and voice vote during the meeting; the motions were moved and seconded as recorded on the agenda and the chair called for the question with members responding "Aye."
