Mineola Board reorganizes; student representatives sworn in

Cheryl Lampasona was elected president of the Mineola Union Free School District Board of Education at the district’s reorganization meeting on July 1; Stacy DeSilas was elected vice president. The board then administered oaths of office to two student representatives who will serve as voting participants on the dais.
The reorganization meeting is the annual session in which the board selects officers for the coming school year. After nominations and a second, the board chair called for a roll call; members answered “Aye” and the nominations were approved. The district clerk facilitated the poll.
The board also administered the oath of office to the student representatives. The oath included promises to support the U.S. Constitution and the Constitution of the State of New York and to “faithfully discharge the duties” of student representative.
The reorganizational business concluded with the board approving the standard annual procedural items and moving to the regular business meeting agenda.
Board members and district leaders said the reorganization and the inclusion of two student representatives set the leadership and participation framework for the 2025–26 school year.
